Lourdes Medrano is an independent journalist based in southern Arizona. She writes about food, the environment, immigration and stories that span both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. She has worked for several newspapers, including The Arizona Republic and the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune. A 2020-21 Knight Science Journalism fellow at MIT, she focused on the origin and evolution of corn.
