Elliott Woods

Elliott Woods is a multimedia reporter and photographer who covers ordinary people caught up in extraordinary events all over the United States and the world: Nebraskan ranchers fighting the Keystone XL Pipeline, Iraqis adjusting to the violent uncertainties of the post-American era, hopeful revolutionaries in Tahrir Square, American troops and civilians in Afghanistan. He is a contributing editor at VQR, and a correspondent at Outside Magazine. His work also has appeared in The New Republic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, Texas Monthly, Mother Jones, The Guardian, and High Country News. His limited-series podcast, Third Squad, tells the stories of the surviving members of the Marine squad he embedded with ten years earlier in Afghanistan—as well as the one who didn’t make it back.
