US approves GE potato that reduces suspect acrylamides

The Agriculture Department approved cultivation of the Innate potato developed by JR Simplot Co. and genetically engineered to produce smaller amounts of acrylamides when it is fried. Acrylamides are a neurotoxicant and potential carcinogen.
