Brian Halweil is the editor of Edible East End and co-publisher of Edible Brooklyn and Edible Manhattan magazines, all part of the Edible Communities network of magazines that celebrate their local food communities. He is also a senior fellow at the Worldwatch Institute, where his work has focused on organic farming, biotechnology, hunger, and rural communities. He is the author of Eat Here: Homegrown Pleasures in a Global Supermarket and he lives in Sag Harbor, New York, where he and his family keep a home garden and orchard and raise oysters.
Katrina Heron is a founding board member of the Food & Environment Reporting Network and Director of the Edible Schoolyard Project. She was previously Editor-at-Large at Newsweek/The Daily Beast, Editor-in-Chief of WIRED and a senior editor at The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and The New York Times magazines. For the last decade she has worked to promote edible education with Alice Waters and the Chez Panisse Foundation and was Chair of the Board of Slow Food Nation 2008.
Ruth Reichl is Editorial Advisor to Gilt Taste and Editor-at-Large at Random House. From 1999 to 2009 she was Editor-in-Chief of Gourmet magazine. She began her career as restaurant critic for New West and California magazines and went on to be the restaurant critic and food editor of the Los Angeles Times. From 1993-1999 she served as restaurant critic for The New York Times. Reichl began writing about food in 1972, when she published Mmmmm: A Feastiary. Since then, she has authored four memoirs, Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me with Apples, Garlic and Sapphires, and For You, Mom, Finally. She is the editor of The Modern Library Food Series, which currently includes 10 books. She is Executive Producer and host of the public television series, Adventures with Ruth. She is also a producer on the Fox 2000 movie, Garlic and Sapphires. At the moment she is at work on a novel and a cookbook.
Charles Wilson is the co-author with Eric Schlosser of the number one New York Times children’s bestseller Chew On This: Everything You Don’t Want to Know About Fast Food. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Times magazine, The Washington Post, and The Economist. He is collaborating with the Milwaukee urban farmer Will Allen on a book to be published by Gotham/Penguin.
