Will Chicagoans go hazelnutty over the Nutella Cafe?

The world’s first Nutella Cafe is set to open on Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue in a location abutting Grant Park, whose grassy and wooded expanse leads to the Lake Michigan shoreline, says Eater. Italian foodmaker Ferrero, which invented the hazelnut-chocolate spread, says the cafe, with an entryway styled to resemble a jar of Nutella, will open on May 31.

Patrons will be able to purchase the spread in jars of all sizes and order from a menu “featuring Nutella items, including crepes, gelato, oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, croissants, waffles, pancakes, and a fruit fondue plate,” says Eater. “Unlike the menu at the Nutella Bar inside NYC’s Eataly or the Nutella counter inside Chicago’s Eataly, the Nutella Cafe will also offer savory lunch items that do not contain Nutella, like panini and salads.”

Earlier this year, the site Travel Away listed 11 Nutella-themed locations globally. They include a mobile kiosk in New York City, a shop in Portugal “selling delicious local goods filled with Nutella,” a Nutella creperie in Greece, a bistro on the Palestinian West Bank, and Nuts-About-Tella in Australia, where the donut Nutella burger is “a big hit.”
