The Agriculture Department set a 30-day comment period on the environmental assessment of its plan to release a parasitic wasp to combat the destructive emerald ash borer, which has been detected in 24 states from Colorado to New Hampshire. “EAB is able to attack and kill healthy trees in both natural and urban environments and is well suited for climate conditions in the continental United States,” says the USDA. The Federal Register notice of the comment period is scheduled for publication today.
