The first edition of the revived Fats and Oils: Oilseed Crushings, Production, Consumption and Stocks report was delayed for two months, until Oct. 1, because of inadequate response by processors, said the USDA. The original release date was Monday. For decades, the report was produced by the Census Bureau, which dropped it in July 2011 as part of budget cuts. Congress transferred authority for the report to the USDA last year. “The Oct. 1 report will contain data for the months of May-August to include: monthly crush and production of crude oil for selected States and the U.S.; U.S. production and consumption of selected fats and oils products for edible and inedible uses; and U.S. end of month stocks for selected fats and oils,” said the department in announcing the delay.
