Bayer-Monsanto approval likely (Wall Street Journal): The Department of Justice will approve Bayer’s $63 billion acquisition of Monsanto, “according to people familiar with the matter.”

Farm bill’s partisan divide (Wall Street Journal): Attempts by Republican lawmakers to cut funding to SNAP as part of this year’s farm bill renewal has split normally bipartisan Congressional agriculture committees along party lines.

Harvesting veggies in the Antarctic (AP): In a project aimed at space travel, researchers grew 8 pounds of salad greens, cucumbers and radishes without soil, daylight or pesticides in a greenhouse in Antarctica.
