Small Ohio creamery aims to revolutionize milk

Snowville Creamery is a small operation with big ideas and run by a career dairyman, says Civil Eats. Says owner Warren Taylor, “I built a creamery to prove that we can produce good high quality, good tasting milk for everybody in America.” He believes he has a template that can be used throughout the country. The creamery, located in Pomeroy, Ohio, buys milk from 10 local dairy farms and processes it into milk, cream and yogurt products, says the story by Ken Roseboro. The cows are pasture-fed for much of the year and Taylor says milk from grass-fed cows tastes better. He encourages production of non-GMO grain by paying extra for it with the goal of a move to organic grain production.

“Our approach has the potential to increase the supply to meet the demand, while leading non-GMO feed and forage producers towards certified organic production,” Taylor says the Civil Eats story. “I’m optimistic we will be able to change the food system.”
