Roberts gains ground for Senate in Kansas

Republican Pat Roberts is the leader in newly released polls by CNN and Fox. Roberts, potentially the next chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, was ahead of independent Greg Orman 49-48 with 3 percent undecided in the CNN poll and ahead 44-39 with 12 percent undecided in the Fox poll. The polls were released on the same day as the candidates met for a debate. Pollster’s tracking model has the race as a dead heat.

Orman insisted he is an independent while Roberts repeatedly during the debate said Orman was a liberal Democrat in disguise, said the Associated Press.

In Arkansas, Republican Tom Cotton leads Democrat Mark Pryor, chairman of the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on agriculture, 46-39 with 11 percent undecided, says a poll by Fox of 707 likely voters.  Fox says independents, men and white voters strongly supported Cotton. Pollster’s tracking model puts the race at Cotton 46, Pryor 43.
