The Agriculture Department released a report that, “for the first time, provides uniform scientific methods for quantifying the changes in greenhouse gas emissions and carbon storage from various land management and conservation activities.” The report will help landowners participate in carbon markets, said USDA in a statement. USDA said it would update its computer-based tools that farmers can use when deciding whether a change in tillage practices might also create an opportunity to participate in a revenue-generating greenhouse gas reduction or carbon storage program.
