Pruitt promises no more than a six-month wait for new permits

The EPA will soon cut the wait time for permit requests to six months or less, in an effort to trim regulations generally for industry, says Reuters.

“Regulatory uncertainty is the biggest reason why the U.S. economy isn’t growing faster,” Pruitt said in a panel discussion at the Texas Oil & Gas Association’s Lone Star Energy Forum outside Houston. In some cases the EPA has taken years to grant a permit for a project, and environmentalists worry that this latest news will mean that polluting industries will wrongfully get the green light.
