Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus was discovered in Vermont this week, meaning the disease has hit 28 states, says DTN. The disease increase hog mortality rates and is expected to retard pork production this year. DTN says “researchers are keeping a close eye on variants of the existing PED virus and watching another newly discovered virus, swine deltacoronavirus (SDCV), which could be the next big issue the pork industry will have to deal with.”
