Photographer Glenn Charles made 40 stops on a 16-day bicycle trip from Bridgeport, Conn, to Portland, Me, to follow fresh food from the field to the table. He stopped at “farmers markets, sustainable farms, community gardens, and other nonprofits working to improve the food system” in a campaign organized by the nonprofit Wholesome Wave, which boosts fruit and vegetable consumption by low-income families, says a story at Civil Eats. Ashley Gaudiano of Wholesome Wave said the nonprofit wanted to highlight the network of farms, organizations, and businesses working to make local food economies viable. “We were really trying to [capture] as much of a full cycle as we could,” she told Civil Eats.
