Only Clackamas and Sherman counties have yet to complete their recount of ballots on Oregon’s Measure 92 to require labels on food made with genetically modified organisms. If their results mirror the election-night count, the statewide referendum will again lose by roughly 800 votes, according to data posted by the Secretary of State’s office. The recount is expected to be final by Friday.
Some $29 million was spent on the statewide referendum, the fourth in three years. The Oregon vote was the closest yet, losing by 0.05 percent according to the certified results.
