No scientific need to label GMO food, says think tank

A panel of scientists reviewed the arguments over labeling genetically engineered foods and concluded, “There is no science-based reason to single out GE foods and feeds for mandatory process-basedlabeling…Wide-ranging evidence shows that GE technology is equally safe to conventional breeding.” In a 16-page report issued by the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology, the panel says voluntary labeling is “the traditional U.S. practice of providing for consumer food preference.”
