The Missouri Supreme Court is to hear arguments today on whether to strike from the state constitution a “right to farm” amendment that was approved by voters in August by a narrow margin, says Missourinet. The Missouri Farmers Union, which opposed the amendment, says it was worded deceptively and would give more power to out-of-state investors. A leader of a pro-amendent group says the amendment would protect farmers from unfair limits on their operations. Among the questions for the court, says Missourinet, is whether opponents waited too long to file their challenge.
