A source close to Ivanka Trump has told the press that the first daughter is interested in childhood nutrition, reports Politico. Some are hoping that Ivanka will influence her father, who took pains during his presidential campaign to show that he’s a burger and pizza guy.
“While there are no specific plans, Ivanka is very passionate about gardening and teaching kids about healthy, seasonal eating,” the source said.
She frequently posts tips for healthy eating on her Instagram account, like how to “Turnip your vegetable game,” says Politico. She claims she limits carbs and focuses on veggies, while adding goji berries and flaxseed to her children’s oatmeal.
Chef Sam Kass, who served the Obamas in the White House and helped Michelle Obama shape her childhood nutrition and exercise program, Let’s Move, said that he hopes Ivanka will include healthy eating in her women’s empowerment platform. “One of the absolute core pillars of healthy families and women thriving is health and nutrition,” he said.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s culinary tastes may not be so humble after all. If Ivanka’s father has said that he likes taco bowls and KFC, he also likes to drop into restaurants like Jean Georges, “where he recently met with Mitt Romney over a $600 dinner,” says Politico. And the president-elect encouraged readers in his 2004 book, “Think Like a Billionaire,” to spare their waistlines and eat egg white omelets and steamed vegetables.
