The Congressional Progressive Caucus urged President Barack Obama to “act swiftly and comprehensively” through an executive order that would allow undocumented aliens to stay in the country. In a memo, the caucus said the order should cover 7 million people including “individuals who are ‘regularly employed,’ including agricultural and seasonal workers.” A large portion of farm workers are illegal immigrants.
Politico said, “Though the White House has been tight-lipped about the scope of the executive action, sources familiar with the administration’s deliberations believe Obama is considering two key factors in whether immigrants will qualify for executive action – how long they have been in the United States, as well as family ties. That would not be as expansive as many immigration advocates and Democrats on Capitol Hill have called for.”
