The Coalition for Safe Affordable Food, the food-industry group that promotes genetically modified foods, may be running uphill with its criticism of actress Gwyneth Paltrow on social media. Paltrow has 2.19 million followers on Twitter compared to 15,600 for the CSAF. The divide is wide on Facebook, too. Paltrow had 1.19 million likes and CSAF had 107,275 on Wednesday afternoon.
Similarly, the Just Label It campaign, a longtime supporter of mandatory labeling of GMO foods, has 40,800 followers on Twitter and the Grocery Manufacturers Association, a leading opponent of labeling, has 4,874 followers.
