Like millions of Americans, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is working from home. “I’m still in Iowa,” he told reporters on Thursday. “I just got my second shot” of coronavirus vaccine.
Vilsack said he relied on teleworking to get up to speed on USDA issues ahead of his Senate confirmation this week and that he expected to work remotely for a while longer. “We will continue to do that until sometime probably in March,” he said, when there will be more clarity about reopening USDA offices.
At present, about 350 people are working at USDA headquarters, which normally houses thousands of employees.
