Bernadette Dunham, the director of the Center for Veterinary Medicine, said she will leave the FDA in April to join a collaborative One Health Initiative project between George Washington University and the FDA.
The One Health Initiative is a “worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment,” according to the project’s website.
Dunham became director of CVM in 2008 after joining the agency in 2002. Tracey Forfa, the center’s deputy director, “will fulfill the role of acting center director while the agency conducts a nationwide search for a new leader of CVM,” said the FDA. Forfa has worked at the agency since 1993 and has been deputy director for eight years.
