In an interview with AgWeb, Pamela Anderson, director of agriculture development for the Gates Foundation, describes the foundation’s strategy on agricultural research and food security. She says “we have given ourselves permission to work from upstream basic research to the delivery of it, to the policies that allow it to function, and to work with the government. We have an end-to-end scope.”
The foundation has an endowment of $40 billion and operates worldwide. It has given grants to agricultural development groups such as Heifer International and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa.
