Corn, soybean and wheat prices fell during August amid forecasts of a record fall harvest, said the monthly Agricultural Prices report. Corn was down by 35 cents from July, to sell for an average $3.70 a bushel at the farm gate. Soybeans dropped by 90 cents, to an average $12.20 per bushel and wheat was off 31 cents a bushel to $5.85 for the month. Cattle prices were up by $4, to an average $160 per 100 pounds. The cattle price was $39 higher than a year ago. Hog prices were down by $5 per 100 pounds and broiler chickens were down by 6 cents per pound. Beef and pork prices are running at record prices in the grocery store.
