A Farm Bureau encore for Trump? ‘I’ll be back.’

As President Trump observed, “a hundred is so much cooler,” so he feels the attraction of speaking to the largest U.S. farm group on its Centennial next year, in New Orleans. “Next year, I’ll come back. All right? We’ll come back.”

Trump was the first president to speak at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention since 1992 and quipped that he was very disappointed to learn he was speaking at the 99th annual meeting of the group, founded in Chicago in 1919 as local farm groups, organized for self-improvement, linked nationally to strengthen their voice. The Farm Bureau, with more than 5 million members, is regarded as more politically conservative than the slightly older National Farmers Union, the second-largest farm group.

“You understand, a hundred is so much cooler, I have to be honest,” said Trump. “So I’ll be back, I think. All right? We’ll come back.”
