The House would be limited to considering eight specified amendments under the terms proposed by the Rules Committee for debate of the CFTC reauthorization bill. Two of the amendments deal with CFTC consideration of costs and benefits of its regulations. Three dozen farm and agribusiness groups made public a letter to lawmakers in support of the bill, citing its “clear roadmap for meaningful cost-benefit analysis to be performed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission before proposing major rules.”
The House is scheduled to work today on the Defense Department appropriations bill. The calender also calls for it to vote on the debate “rule” for the CFTC bill, which would allow the bill to be called for action.

With time allotted for opening remarks this morning, leaders say the Senate is expected to begin consideration of the bill today around 12:45 p.m. ET
