State health officials report at least 22 people became ill and eight were hospitalized by an outbreak of foodborne illness linked to food served at Chipotle restaurants in Oregon and Washington State, said the FDA. The majority of the cases were in Washington. The FDA said it was working with the CDC and state and local health departments to investigate the outbreak. The restaurant chain, with 1,700 outlets, said it closed 43 restaurants in the Seattle and Portland areas where the outbreak was reported, said Reuters. It was the third time this year that cases of foodborne illness were linked to Chipotle, said the news agency.
