Documents show White House role in ouster of USDA official

An email released as part of a federal court case indicates the White House had a role in the forced resignation of USDA official Shirley Sherrod in 2010, says the Associated Press. It says Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told a fellow USDA policymaker “The WH is involved and we are waiting for the go-ahead to accept her resignation.” The administration has said Sherrod’s departure was Vilsack’s decision, said AP. Sherrod was pressured to resign as USDA director of rural development in Georgia following the posting on the Internet of a videotape that distorted her remarks about racial reconciliation.
