“Counties with better broadband access are adding population at 10 times the rate of counties that lack good broadband connections,” says the Daily Yonder in summarizing a study that appears in the trade publication Broadband Communities. The study says counties in the top half of broadband-access ratings grew by 2.8 percent a year recently while counties in the bottom half averaged 0.3 percent growth. “The study has special implications for rural areas,” said the Yonder because rural counties lost population from 2010-12.
