Speaker John Boehner faulted his fellow House Republicans as unwilling to act on immigration reform during a speech to a service club in his Ohio district, says the Cincinnati Enquirer. “‘Here’s the attitude. Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhh. This is too hard,’ Boehner whined,” according to the newspaper, which said he “theatrically mocked” his colleagues. The speaker said he has worked for 16 or 17 months for Congress to deal with immigration reform.
New York Republican Peter King wrote a letter to Boehner, “saying it would benefit the nation and the Republican Party to undertake an overhaul that includes a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.” said Politico. The Senate passed a comprehensive reform bill a year ago. House Republicans have been unable to agree on the issue.
