Biggest U.S. farm group steps up drive against water rule

The largest U.S. farm group says the EPA’s proposed “waters of the United States” rule “is even worse than before.” The six-million-member American Farm Bureau Federation released a lengthy analysis of the so-called WOTUS rule, which defines the upstream reach of the Clean Water Act as part of ramping up its campaign to ax the proposal, said Agri-Pulse. During a tele-conference, AFBF president Bob Stallman said the rule is broader in scope than previously. “Stallman called on farmers and ranchers to urge their representative in Congress to support legislation that would kill the rule, which he said would also increase costs for state and local governments, home builders and other developers,” said Agri-Pulse.
