After three years at USDA, Censky to return to soy group

One week after the Nov. 3 general election, Deputy Agriculture Secretary Steve Censky will start work for his former employer, the American Soybean Association (ASA) as its chief executive officer. Censky held that post for 21 years before joining the Trump administration in 2017.

“It is a privilege to return to ASA and represent our nation’s soybean growers,” said Censky in a statement. “ASA is in many ways home, and I’m excited about working with both new and familiar faces in St. Louis and D.C., and building on the great changes accomplished since I was last there.”

Censky took office as deputy secretary on Oct. 11, 2017. The deputy secretary oversees day-to-day operations of the USDA.

“Steve’s roots are in agriculture and he is one of the best and most professional public servants America has,” said Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. The USDA said Censky’s last official day on the job would be Nov. 8, a Sunday, the day before he starts work at ASA.
