Help us shine a light on the food system

As 2012 comes to a close, please consider a tax-deductible gift to the Food & Environment Reporting Network, a 501(c)3 organization. We’re the first and only independent, non-partisan, non-profit news organization dedicated to bringing you vital reporting on food, agriculture and environmental health.

We’ve been busy this year! On ABC’s World News Tonight, we broke a story on antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections that affect millions of women every year and may be linked to the resistant bacteria found in chickens. In a cover story for The Nation, we published the first in-depth report on the deaths and illness of livestock in regions where fracking is underway. For the American Prospect, we uncovered the widespread problem of wage theft among the contract farm laborers who pick our nation’s fruits and vegetables. These were just three of the dozen probing stories we produced last year in collaboration with top publications and talented writers. You can read all of them at TheFern.org.

These investigations often take months to complete, an investment that many for-profit media companies can no longer afford. And we can’t do such stories without the support of people like you. Please contribute to FERN so we can continue to produce the kind of hard-hitting journalism that holds the powerful accountable.

Thank you.
